If you like vintage VWs, dogs at weddings, and beautiful backdrops, you'll fall in love with Beckie and Mike's intimate summer wedding in historical Bath, Somerset.
I first met Beckie and Mike in autumn 2019 for their engagement shoot at Nunney Castle, near Frome in Somerset. It feels like a lifetime ago now! They brought their dog Kiara along and we took photos around the beautiful castle ruins and the village. (If you'd like to see the blog, you can find it here.)
The happy couple have known one another for years and got engaged on a holiday in Cornwall, in front of a sunset - so romantic! They were originally planning a bigger wedding on 5 September, but unfortunately it was delayed due to everyone's favourite virus. Wanting to get hitched anyway, they opted for an intimate ceremony at the historic Guildhall in Bath, in front of their nearest and dearest.
One of my favourite bits of the wedding was the stunning baby blue vintage VW Beetle which was provided by the bride's father's friend. Looking seriously cool; it was the perfect summer wedding car!
After the wedding at the Guildhall in the city centre, we ventured up to Royal Victoria Park's Botanical Gardens to take some more wedding photographs. I hadn't been there since I was a teenager and forgot how beautiful it was - with so many varied backdrops!
The wedding was loosely themed around blue, and the vision for the day was to keep it small and personal, with a bigger celebration planned in March 2021 - Covid permitting! Their favourite part of the planning process was seeing everything finally come together.
After their wedding, Beckie and Mike went on a mini-moon road trip around Wales. The plan after the bigger wedding is to go on a road trip around Switzerland, which they have always wanted to visit.
Are you planning a wedding in beautiful Bath? It's one of my absolute favourite places and I'd love to talk to you about your wedding photography needs! You can send me a message here, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
