Engagement shoot: Chloe & Tom, Bristol

Updated: 3 hours ago

I met Chloe, Tom and their Dachshund Chip at Leigh Woods in Bristol in early December for their engagement shoot. We later moved on to Clifton to take some shots by the famous Suspension Bridge.

Chloe and Tom met five years ago when they were working at the same secondary school, he teaching PE and her maths. Just over a year later, they moved in together and more recently bought their own house. After buying their house, they got their dog Chip!

Chloe and Tom spent their fifth anniversary weekend in Dorset. It had a rather disastrous start, consisting of a tyre puncture, no cooking facilities at the log cabin they were staying at, and an allergic reaction. The following morning, having not had much sleep, they went on a walk to Durdle Door and Old Harry Rocks, taking Chip along with them. During the walk, Tom kept Chloe on his lefthand side as he had the engagement ring in the mesh pocket on the right of his bag.

Tom had been intending to propose at Old Harry Rocks but decided against it as it was very busy. As they were walking back to the car, he saw a sign saying 'cliff edge' and suggested they go and check it out. As they walked to the edge Chloe contemplated what a nice place it would be to get engaged, but thought, 'well, that's not going to happen!'.

The view from the edge of the cliff was stunning, and Tom asked Chloe if she was feeling happier now. When she said yes, he said 'shall I show you how happy I am?' and got down on one knee. Chloe cried (a lot!) and said yes. They spent a perfect evening afterwards in the log cabin, playing boardgames and watching Shaun of the Dead.

They chose to have their engagement shoot at Leigh Woods as they spend a lot of time there on Sunday afternoons taking Chip on long walks amongst the gorgeous scenery. Chip loves it there - crying when he realises where they are going, desperate to get out of the car!

Chloe and Tom will be getting married in August 2021 and are making a lot of the wedding themselves. The planning is well underway and they are really enjoying it, and can't wait to be Mr and Mrs Harrington!
