My last summer wedding of 2020 was a gorgeous afternoon in Wraysbury, Berkshire, the day after my (gulp) 30th birthday. It was well worth the journey back east; a blazing hot day full of laughter, love, and a whopping 30 wedding guests, which felt enormous after months of tiny events.
Hannah and Steve tied the knot on 12 September, with a ceremony at the beautiful St Andrews Church and a garden reception by a lake at a family home. The couple got engaged just before Christmas 2019 in a London hotel, back when the world was still normal! They originally met at work.
Before the wedding ceremony, the groom, groomsmen, and guests gathered in The George, a lovely old pub opposite the church. Between photographing the ladies getting ready, I popped down to meet the gents. I love the photo of them showing off their red matching socks - a nod to Manchester United.
The vision for the day was relaxed and intimate. St Andrews Church was chosen as it held a special place in the bride's life; she and her brother were christened there, and her parents also got married in its beautiful surroundings, as well as many other family members.
The big celebration was postponed due to Covid, but, wanting to get on and get hitched, they pulled together this smaller day in a rush. The bridesmaids were in gorgeous sage green dresses, matching the groomsmen in stylish navy check suits with sage ties. Hannah wore a gorgeous satin dress from the amazing Sassi Holford - where I got my own wedding dress!
Hannah and Steve's advice to anyone currently planning their wedding would advise them to not sweat the small stuff! They were originally supposed to go to Costa Rica for their honeymoon, which they will do after the big celebration in 2021. Instead, they spent a week in gorgeous Cornwall.
