35mm Film Wedding Photography

Analogue photography has made a comeback in a HUGE way over the last few years. And after not having used a film camera since getting a DSLR in 2004, I decided to pick one back up and throw myself back into the film photography I fell in love with in my childhood!

So, why should you consider adding some photos shot on 35mm film to your wedding gallery?

This reason kind of speaks for itself. There's just SOMETHING about film photography that digital photography lacks. It feels more authentic; the colours, the grain, capturing that fleeting moment and having no idea how it'll come out until it's been developed.

Want your wedding photos to stand out from the crowd? The vast majority of people will have a whole gallery of digitally-shot photos, so yours being partially on film sets you apart! They won't look just like everyone else's.

Photo editing styles will come and go, but the look of film photography is timeless. In the 2000s we had the selective colour trend (think a black and white photo with a bouquet of roses in glaring red), and photos taken on the wonk (a Dutch tilt). These days, very moody and desaturated colours are en vogue, as well as very warm, orangey edits. While they both have their merits, I suspect they'll one day be easily dated to the 2010s/2020s. So if you want timeless, heirloom wedding photos, opt for film. And as I base my own editing style on classic film photography (specifically Fujifulm), they should blend in well.

Nice things other couples have said!
